We’re Bob Warfield fans here @ CloudAve: Ben called Bob a blogger role model, and I share his feelings, although in a strange moment Bob said he was reading my blog religiously
Perhaps when he wants to laugh?
Joke apart, Bob is a software veteran whose most recent gig was Executive VP of Helpstream – read Ben’s coverage on Helpstream here. I’ve long believed Bob was due to run his own show one day, and it happened: Bob is now CEO of Helpstream. I do not have details of how / when the Exec shuffle took place, but it must have been fairly recent – there is no news release or even blog post yet, and if you look at the CEO’s bio.. well, it needs a lil’ search / replace (emphasis mine):
Bob Warfield
CEO
Bob Warfield is executive vice president of products at Helpstream. Bob is responsible for continuously improving the Helpstream user experience through engineering, operations and product management.
It’s not everyday that a fellow Enterprise Irregular becomes active CEO, so double congratulations to Bob. But I am a bit worried: he will no doubt have less time and I certainly hope we are not loosing him as a blogger. The SmoothSpan Blog is a must-read for anyone interested in the Business of Software, and SaaS in particular. I hope it will stay that way… so once again, congrat’s, Bob, and remember to take care of your readers.
Update: The transition likely happened a few weeks ago, at least the press release announcing quarterly results on July 14th mentions Bob as CEO, which we apparently missed. On another note, a few hours after this post appeared Helpstream fixed the Leadership page quoted above.
