Obviously there are aspects that businesses need to address before any migrations (i.e. security, stability, etc.). But as many of these key points stress, engaging the user base to understand exactly what is needed/desired before putting the solution in place needs is crucial as well. Ideally, this level of engagement should continue throughout the process. This is especially true with cloud deployments. IT needs to pay close attention to the experience and making sure the solution addresses requirements without making unnecessary changes to the user’s daily processes. It also helps when you can find providers capable of effectively matching user needs and desires with sensible cloud solutions. VMWare offers a needs assessment that can serve as a solid starting point (j.mp/vmvirt).
