Update: a search on TinEye reveals 32 occurances of this image – still don’t know who the original owner is, but at least now I know the photo was shot in Dubai.

Hi Zoli: Thanks for trying out TinEye to locate the credentials of the Dubain skyline in the clouds. I happen to be very familiar with the photograph (working in the image space does that to your brain!). The photographer is Matthew J. Makes, package manager, cladding, Turner Construction Co., Dubai office and here is a link to his photograph in the list of year in construction photographs http://enr.construction.com/photoContest/2007/Buildings/detail.asp?itemid=6
Hi Leila,
Thanks for the info, will update the post. The original looks a bit retouched to me, I wonder if he added the blue sky later on?
Zoli: you know those two photographs look significantly different on second look. Matthew’s photograph (in the link I provided) I am familiar with because it was printed in a construction magazine as a winning photograph and it was stunning (at least for me)! But the photo you have looks significantly different (cloud positions, building heights…) hmmm… may be it is one in a series or perhaps not even his. Damn. I wish TinEye was more helpful!
I think TinEye was quite helpful: it only picked the indentical copies of this photo. Matthew’s version came from your memory, and I guess TinEye does not scan human memory (yet)?
