Welcome to CloudAve

Hello everyone, and welcome to CloudAve.

I thought I'd take this opportunity to explain the path that bought me here – editing a specialist cloud computing blog isn't exactly a typical thing to be doing from a 12 acre hobby farm in the middle of the South Island of New Zealand.

My background isn't in technology, but rather than a weakness, I contend this is a strength. Well over a decade spent using business software tools has given me a good appreciation for what works, what doesn't and perhaps most importantly what direction software could move to truly enable people to be more effective and efficient. My focus will always be one of user-centricity – putting the end users before the technology.

I've spent the last couple of years blogging predominantly about SaaS, and have met a bunch of exciting start-ups and helped a number of them get ahead. I've also talked to a bunch of knowledgeable people, one of which is now my editor-in-chief, Zoli Erdos. I'll continue to contribute to my first love (in the blogging sense) Diversity, over there I'll focus mainly on issues around small business and New Zealand specific stuff, CloudAve will be my locations for SaaS and Cloud Computing stuff.

I'm excited about what we're creating here and am keen to hear your feedback – good, bad or otherwise.

Once again welcome aboard, and enjoy the ride!
