[..] Past presenters include: Heroku, Get Satisfaction, Marketo, Eucalyptus, Zuora, Box.net, Ribbit, Hubspot, Twilio, New Relic, CloudKick, Jive Software, and many more. Many (54%) of the UtR participant received funding, some grew to fame, others disappeared… but disappearance is not always bad – as is the case of 2008 Under the Radar graduate 3Tera, which just gotacquired by Computer Associates.
Krishnan-

Good analysis. One of the topics that I thought was interesting was your comment about innovation. Having come into CA from a cloud start-up (Cassatt) myself, I always kind of assumed that start-ups are the main way technology gets pushed forward. However, I'm now getting a firsthand view of another way this can work. There is something to be said for one of the bigger companies throwing its weight in one direction or the other.

I've also been impressed so far about some of the non-Old World aspects of CA. It's surprised me in the 6 months I've been onboard.

Anyway, good post. For a bit more color on the CA-3Tera announcement, my blog on it is here:
