So Judofyr found a XSS-exploit on Twitter.com and within minutes it spreaded like wildfire. His original tweet just set the anchor background color to black but his next tweet included onmouseover and people could not stop moving the mouse over the tweet resulting in over 40000 tweets within 10 minutes. The exploit: http://judofyr.net/@”style=”background:#000;color:#000;/ So Twitter [...]
FacePalm
The future is here according to Steve Jobs. Maybe he should tell Pixar to make “Back to the Future 4″ cause there sure were a lot of “time travellers” who tried video-calling five years ago. Video calling is fun. Once. Then you never use it again. I’m surprised Apple is pushing FaceTime the way they [...]
The Entrepreneur Tax that Kills Business
All governments, including the Norwegian, talk at length about how to stimulate growth among small businesses and the need to focus on innovation. To accomplish their goals various schemes are offered; grants, tax reductions or state backed industry plans. But while other governments try to help small businesses, the Norwegian government at the same time [...]
The Problem with URL Shorteners: ow.ly Server Errors
If you currently click on a ow.ly shortened URL you will be shown a server error page at ow.ly – not the URL you or the publisher intended you to see. Proponents of these services have so far ignored the main problem; trusting a third party. I guess they see the problem now when potential visitors to their [...]
Will Gears kill Software plus Services?
Microsoft still advocates their Software plus Services strategy. And they do have a point; some software will always require to be installed and executed locally. More advanced software like Adobe Photoshop is an obvious example, but even software that has plenty of web alternatives such as Evernote can benefit from having a desktop client. But [...]
Plug and Play Open Source Business Applications In the Cloud
As a developer I love open source. There are heaps of great applications such as web-servers, frameworks, databases that developers can use and contribute to. But when it comes to most open source software for end-users there are multiple reasons not to love it: No innovation. Most open source software for end-users are created from [...]
Care For Your Personal Data In the Cloud
The recent magnolia-scandal brought back concerns about data backup and service quality from the back of the mind of many users. I know how important these issues are but like most users I blindly trust most new services with my data. Most services offer data export such as Delicious or synchronization such as Gmail provides. [...]
Getting Rid of IE6 – the Campaign Continues
The words "Internet Explorer 6" will even make the coolest CSS-guru cry. To make a stop to this virus some tweeters in Norway started a campaign to get users to upgrade, or even better switch, browser. Many of the largest web sites in Norway as well as many international sites took part of the campaign. [...]
Data Standards for Web Applications
While many despise WMA, DOC, MP3 and other proprietary formats the discussions about data formats used by web applications have been surprisingly silent. It is true that this is mainly because a lot of web applications offer XML export or offer an API for exporting data to other services. But as data formats in the [...]
Has Best-of-Breed Won?
Let’s face it: enterprise applications will never be cool – and that is part of the reason why small-business focused applications such as Basecamp and Xero get more buzz. But apart from NetSuite and 24SevenOffice, who else is offering all-in-one fully integrated business applications in the cloud? Surprisingly very few. About once a year or [...]
TeamWork Project Manager – Review
TeamWork Project Manager is a new web-application and I had to give it a try. Website The website has great small screenshots which explain bits of the core functionality in TeamWork. Personally I would probably move the twitter updates to the bottom but I guess a company has to show of that they are cool [...]
