Kent State University Deploys Proofpoint SaaS and Appliance Solutions for Comprehensive Email Security.

It was announced today that Kent State University has deployed Proofpoint's email security solutions in a "hybrid" configuration -- combining Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) anti-spam and anti-virus features. "Our previous email security tool was failing and unable to effectively scale to our ever-changing needs. However, Proofpoint's hybrid deployment model, product and implementation support, cost effectiveness and flexibility worked perfectly for us." Said Todd Ryan, the manager of systems administration for Kent State University.

Brainshark Expands SaaS Portfolio With Personal Edition for SOHO and Individual Users.

Brainshark Inc announced the public availability of Brainshark Personal Edition. The product offers on-demand presentation for SOHO (Small Office Home Office). It has features like presentations, project updates, e-mail marketing campaigns, enhancing websites etc.

IBM's cloud initiative repackages its familiar offerings.

According to an IBM insider, IBM’s cloud services initiative is about putting an organizing construct around all of its cloud offerings. This will include repackaging of IBM datacenter, Lotus technology and SameTime Unyte. It will be offered by the name of BlueHouse. Another component will provide a datacenter environment based on IBM’s cloud computing services around the world.

Zuora, Inc. Launches Second Product, Z-Payments, with Integration to PayPal.

The first complete payment solution built for subscription businesses was launched today by the name of Z-Payments by Zuora Inc. The product comes with a pre-integrated feature of receiving PayPal payments. Executives from salesforce.com and WebEx founded the company. "Zuora's expertise in the subscription market, coupled with our recurring billing functionality, makes Z-Payments a fast way for businesses to give their customers security and convenience when making payments online." said Garrett Price, Vice President of Business Development at PayPal.

Welch's Expands Use of Oco's Business Intelligence Solution.

Welch’s, a food and consumer packaged goods company has extended its use of Oco’s Solution as announced by the company, Oco Inc. It will provide Welch's with detailed analysis of fuel costs, which is an escalating component of Welch's transportation costs. Symantec to take Europe into the cloud.

CEO John Thompson of Symantec announced recently that the company would be launching a cloud-based security product in Europe by the next year. He had mentioned the product at the Symantec Vision + ManageFusion EMEA 08 conference in The Hague today. "Expect that in cloud computing we will take our entire product range - the ones that are relevant - to be delivered as a service in the next three years," he said.

Alert Logic Teams with NaviSite to Deliver IT Compliance, Security Solutions.

NaviSite will offer Alert Logic's Log Manager and Threat Manager to its managed hosting customers, according to an agreement between the two companies. "In addition to offering advanced managed hosting services, we want to provide our customers with add-on services that address the security and compliance challenges they face," said Mark Clayman, Senior Vice President of Hosting Services at NaviSite.
