Savvis, the hosting firm has announced that it has joined the Microsoft Software + Services Incubation Center Program to help guide independent software vendors (ISVs) and ensure their business model and applications are ready for service-based delivery. According to reports, WebApps a.k.a SaaS.com has partnered with Payroll Vault, a payroll service bureau based in Colorado. "Every organization we contact today that's using another time management system is a potential customer. This time and labor management solution will land us, or enable us to pilfer from a competitor, customers we wouldn't be able to attain otherwise," stated Greg Nelson, owner of Payroll Vault.
StarVest Partners Extends SaaS Portfolio
StarVest Partners has announced four investments in SaaS companies from its oversubscribed $244 million Fund, namely: Host Analytics, PivotLink, ThinkPassenger and IRON Solutions. “We chose to have StarVest lead our most recent financing round because the firm brings more experience and insight into building a SaaS business than any other VC firm,” said Quentin Gallivan, CEO of PivotLink and former CEO of Postini, which sold to Google for $625 million.
Intuit Buys Online Payroll Provider for $170 Million
It was recently announced that Intuit has agreed to buy online payroll provider PayCycle for US$170 million in a move to expand its SaaS offerings for smaller businesses, Intuit said Tuesday. Intuit said the purchase will help it to expand its own payroll offerings and further its move into the SaaS market.
