Rootstock Software has announced the beta release of Rootstock MRP for NetSuite, a comprehensive solution for discrete manufacturing businesses and the first pure SaaS manufacturing resource planning (MRP) system built on and delivered via NetSuite's SuiteCloud computing platform. Acording to a new Forrester research paper, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and 7 continue to dominate the enterprise desktop browser market, but Mozilla Firefox is being adopted more readily by the enterprise. "As more and more companies look to SAAS [software-as-a-service] solutions and the Web delivers richer media, firms need to rethink their browser choices in concert with the Web-based apps they deploy," wrote Forrester analyst Sheri McLeish. "Information and knowledge management [I&KM] pros must start to leverage today’s browser innovations like faster processing, tabs and new search features to improve information worker productivity."

Microsoft Unveils Its First Online Management Service
Microsoft recently unveiled System Center Online Desktop Manager, the first online service built around its management tools. The company also plans to launch a private beta of Online Desktop Manager in the next 60 days with a select group of testers and will put out a public beta before the end of 2009. Once the service goes live, Microsoft will add updates every six months, according to Brad Anderson, general manager of the management and services division at Microsoft.
