U.S. Army tries out Salesforce.com in recruiting.

Salesforce.com Inc.’s CRM Software is being used as a pilot program by the US Army for recruitment. The application is being used in conjunction with the Army Experience Center and includes simulators, games, and interactive tools etc. "This is a new model for the government to be using SaaS in this way," said U.S. Army Major Larry Dillard, who is heading this aspect of the program. Dillard said SaaS also has potential in other areas for the military.

Intelledox launches SaaS document automation.

The Australian company, Intelledox has unveiled a SaaS solution for automated document creation. It uses drag-and-drop technology to create intelligent templates which can extract data from multiple sources to create rich documents. "Our software is very different and innovative. It allows users to produce rich documents by drawing on information stored in various places and then output to print, to email or to a web portal," said Phillip Williamson, CEO of Intelledox.

VCSonline reports 35% increase in revenue for VPMi SaaS project management software.

A 35% increase in revenues of 2008 of VPMi SaaS project management software has been reported by VCSonline. "Initial concerns over security, response time, and service availability have diminished for many organizations as SaaS business and computing models have matured and adoption has become pervasive." said Sharon Mertz, research director at Gartner.

TrackVia Announces New On-Demand Database Features and Partnership.

TrackVia has announced that new features have been added to its SaaS database. “The new Alerts feature is great for us,” said TrackVia customer Sam Williams, President of RelicRegister.com, an online marketplace for arrowheads and other collectors’ relics. “We use TrackVia’s website integration features to collect data from our website and publish it back to the website in real time.
