Oracle set to release seven SaaS offerings

Oracle has announced seven new SaaS offerings including applications for sales and marketing and HR professionals, according to a Wall Street Journal report, which cited sources briefed on the plans and a company document. Oracle chief executive Larry Ellison said during an earnings call in June 2008 that on-demand services were not profitable enough, although he admitted that this would change over time.

ESET launches pay-as-you-go security

It was recently announced that ESET has released a pay-as-you-go antivirus and security software offering in Australia. “We’ve created the SaaS option for clients to be able to purchase online and seamlessly through the online portal, giving them instantaneous access to antivirus software,” he said. “The beauty of it is there’s no contract obligation unlike licensed software products. For normal antivirus software, you would need to renew it every 12 or 24 months, whereas this just continues to roll over as long as you’ve got the service in place.” Under the Affiliate program, the reseller places an icon on their website and once a customer clicks through, a trail code is activated and defines where the user has come from.
