Sun StarOffice Gets Mac OS 10, Microsoft OOXML Support.

StarOffice 9, the open-source productivity suite with native support for Apple’s Mac OSX and the ability to import and read files based on Microsoft OOXML file format was released by Sun Microsystems. The company also admitted that they are working on a SaaS version of StarOffice to compete with Google, Zoho and others.

Veritas service helps companies find hidden risks in data centers.

A new service was launched by Symantec Corp which will aim at helping companies get more out of their datacenter investments by checking for problems and giving solutions for the same. A Veritas operations service, which is free to customers of Veritas Storage Foundation and Veritas Cluster Servers, is one such solution.

US consumers prefer OpenOffice to Google Docs.

In a recently conducted survey by ClickStream Technologies, it was concluded that “Although Google Docs and spreadsheets has been touted as a potential competitor to the Microsoft Office Suite, OpenOffice is currently the more likely app to take that position” The survey was conducted amongst 2400 adult internet users, who use both hosted and desktop based paid-for and free office applications.  But can we trust the stats?
