American Airlines is about to test eco-friendly new technology on it's regular flight between Paris and Miami this Thursday. 

Unfortunately it's still not the Flying Saucer design, but this much more boring Boeing 767-300 equipped with all the new technology.
What exactly that new technology is, is a bit hard to decipher from this highly buzzword-compliant article, but rest assured that:

“It is critical that the aviation industry work with our Air Traffic Control partners to demonstrate the benefits of NextGen technology today,” Bob Reding, American’s Executive Vice President of Operations, said in a statement. “By implementing this technology as quickly as possible, we can make real and meaningful strides to reduce our impact on the environment, increase system capacity, and reduce air traffic delays."
