Barack Obama and Michelle Obama

When Barack Obama was elected to Presidency in November, I posted an article here at Cloud Avenue titled Barack Obama and Cloud Computing. In that article, I interpreted Barack Obama's technology policy and said the following.

Opening up government to its citizens and bringing the government to 21st century: In other words, this can also be construed as moving the government to the Clouds. By moving important public government data to the Cloud, it is possible to provide a more transparent form of government. This also helps in promoting a much wider adoption of Cloud Computing. If government can trust the Cloud and put sensitive data on it, why not consumers, small businesses and enterprises?

Well, I am glad to report back that Obama’s team is talking about putting the government on the Clouds. They understand how the move to Cloud Computing can reduce the money spent by the govt. on IT (TCO) and transparency (Open Govt.). I am glad we have a presidential team that gets the tech. Check out the following video where they talk about their plans for “Government as a Service” or “Government on Clouds”.

While the country’s CEO and his team have the smarts to tap the Clouds for running the biggest company government in the world, it is sad that we are finding it difficult to convince the CEOs/CTOs/CIOs of enterprises. This is a perfect case where the companies can definitely look up to the government for leadership.
