Let’s face it, Game Over, nothing stands up to Google Reader. Last time I checked Feed Reader stats on my personal blog, I could observe Bloglines decline, but it still had significant market share, almost equal to up-and-coming Google:

Three years later Google Reader has 52% share, while Bloglines shrank to a pitiful 13%. Runner ups are Netvibes and NewsGator, the rest are all tiny 1-2%.
But this does not show the real picture. Changing feed readers is a bit of a pain, so using a relatively “old” blog (OMG, have I just said my blog was old?) skews the stats towards the declining legacy readers. Checking out CloudAve, a half-year old baby shows what readers really choose today:
There is only one dominant reader, and that’s clearly Google with 68%. The next runner-up, NewsGator is a fraction of that, 7%, while once reigning Bloglines has puny 4%.
Game Over. There Can Be Only One.
