Ever since I bought my iPhone, I wanted to have an app that will help me
manage Amazon EC2 instances through it. After I bought my iPhone, I have stopped
taking my laptop and data card everywhere to manage any emergencies in any of
the servers I manage. I use pTerm application to log into the servers using the iPhone.
I always felt the need for an iPhone app that will help me switch on and off EC2
instances.
Now we have one such application available in Apple App Store. It is called
Elasticpod and it costs $3.99. The app
is still in the early stages and it might take a while for it to mature.
However, it is doing the basic jobs like launching, terminating and rebooting
instances, etc. pretty well. This is definitely a boon for those of us who want
to do tasks like these on the move.
If you are a big business wanting to have a reliable app to manage most of
the Amazon’s web services using Iphone, Ylastic’s iPhone and Android App is a good bet. It is much
more comprehensive than Elasticpod and offers access to EC2, S3, CloudFront, SQS
and SimpleDB. It is also a bit more expensive but if you are a heavy user of
Amazon Web Services, the cost is nothing compared to the convenience it
offers.
